What a month!

Writing a book is the easy part…self-publishing is the challenging part! Last month I learned that fonts are not free of copyright on Canva. Well, some are not. The ones I wanted to use were not. As a creative person and someone who values the time and efforts of others, I bought the license for the two fonts I plan to use commercially. Done.

Did you know that your work is copyrighted the second you write it down? Then there is the question of Trademark. That is a whole other issue. Right before publishing, literally, I found a book with a similar title that had been published as a series. Series can be trademarked. Though my story had no similarity to their story, I decided to be pro-active and pivot. So, rather than run a risk of infringing, I changed my characters names and the title of my book. I am happy with the changes now, but at the time it was really scary.

Now I was back on track.

OH NO! I formatted the book for KDP and I missed the word Portrait! Mine was landscape. Back to the drawing board literally.

The good news is I have a copy that is 8.5” square and one that is 8.5” x 11” landscape. I will never, ever make that mistake again.

I compare the last month to a glacier and an avalanche.

Life is all about balance. I find the good in the challenging. I find the humor in the moments of emotional overload.

When we take chances in life, there is fear and there is trust. There is excitement and disappointment. There is support and there is feeling completely alone.

In this moment, I feel incredibly grateful I get to follow my dream and reinvent myself. I will just keep on learning with grace and joy. I hope you spake kindly to yourself today. I need to remind myself continually to do that, and that I don’t know what I am doing and that is o.k.

Love, light and PEACE all,

Teresa
