Turning a page…
Today is the first day of a new adventure! Wait, it really started 59 years ago.
Some of my first memories are of creating. Sure, I remember people, pets and places, but I also remember being a creative thinker.
Walking to school, I would write songs. Sitting alone, I would draw. One of my first collaborations was with my friend Danny. We were in church and we exchanged our sketches. He would draw monsters and I would draw princesses. We invented our own Exquisite Corpse style when we were 5 or 6.
I began college as a nursing major. I loved earth science, but my Mom always wanted to be a nurse so, I entered the physical sciences. I was her last hope at living that nursing dream. I knew quickly that was not my path. An advisor told me to take classes I enjoyed as I decided on my major. I took all art classes! Mom was not happy. But, I knew the path I wanted to take.
I became an art teacher and created for my students. Samples, lessons, videos and more. I created and created for 30 years. Then I retired.
After a very severe mental adjustment, I began to wake up with stories in my head. I started writing them out on notebook paper, while in bed under the covers at 3 or 4 in the morning.
Those stories brought me here…to the first day of my blog and on the verge of publishing my first picture book! I hope you will come back to follow my journey. Not sure where it will lead me, but I will TRUST the inner knowing and creativity that has brought me right here.
With gratitude,
Teresa
